RR Borbon.

Royder Lloyd Borbon of the Omega Gym of Cebu will be gunning for a big upset on April 3 when he is pitted against the unbeaten Robert Paradero of Bukidnon, who is also the number one ranked minimumweight contender of the World Boxing Organization (WBO).

Borbon (5W-2L-1D,5KO?s) lost a split decision in his last fight in Catmon, Cebu to Clyde Azarcon but will be banking on the fact that all of his wins have come by the short route.

Paradero (16W-0L,11KO?s) won the vacant WBO Asia Pacific Youth minimumweight title in 2016 by unanimous decision against Ronie Tanallon in Cagayan de Oro City. He has since won by KO /TKO in his last three bouts against Charlie Malupangue, Jong Sabellina and Ian Ligutan.

Their fight will be held in Manolo Fortich, Bukidon.

On the same card, unbeaten Christian Araneta (14W-0L,12KO?s) of the Omega Gym will be making his first ring appearance after being sidelined for a year due to a shoulder injury.

Araneta won the WBO Oriental light flyweight title last March 18,2017 by knocking out Indonesian Demsi Manufoe. Araneta got a top ten ranking in the 108lb division of the WBO but his career was halted by a right shoulder injury during a sparring session. He had to undergo surgery and rehab and has been finally cleared by his doctor to fight again. His long layoff however, made him drop from the world rankings.

He will be pitted against Ian Ligutan (6-10-2,3KO?s) in a non-title bout. The Omega Gym coaching staff wants to take it slow and see if Araneta is really ready for a comeback. He has been sparring in the gym and is candid enough to admit that initially it hurt when his sparring partners would hit him in the shoulder. But he added that now he has been able to throw his punches at full strength.

Omega boxers Tomjune Mangubat and Marjon Piencenaves will be fighting Boyce Sultan and Jeffrey Jimenez respectively.

The world ranked Saludar brothers are also slated to fight in the same fight card.

WBO number two minimumweight Vic Saludar will face Michael Kinaadman while WBO number five flyweight Froilan Saludar will be pitted against Jonathan Francisco.
