SUPERFLY 3: MY DREAM MATCHUPS

It was a very tiring but exciting night at the Fabulous Forum Saturday night as promoter Tom Loeffler?s 360 Promotion unveiled his sequel to the Superfly 1 event he had at the Stub Hub Center in Carson not too long ago,

The event was super amazing. Moreover, the crowd was electric and they came in hordes. I was in awe at the number that came in to fill up the seats. It brought back memories of the times I used to see the Showtime LA Lakers play at the Forum.

Now while the memories of the successful Superfly 2 are still fresh, I would love to suggest Superfly3 in the summer of 2018.

Would it be so wonderful if 360 Promotions can pull off a sequel that would feature three of the latest Filipino greats?

I would love to see Srisaket Sor Rungvisai stake his WBC Super flyweight belt against a fellow Asian in Donnie Nietes. This fight would be so awesome and I have no doubt the huge Thai and Filipino communities will come out to support this fight. This fight will be easy to put together because of the great relationship between the outfits that manage the two boxers and 360 Promotions.

On the co-main event, it would be nice to see Nicaragua?s chocolate man, the former pound for pound king, Roman Gonzalez meet Aston Palicte for the vacant WBO super flyweight belt. Palicte is ranked higher than Gonzalez and this fight will be explosive as it fits two hard hitting warriors who are both hungry for fame and glory - Gonzalez to recover his old status and Palicte to win his first world title. Another advantage is the fact that the Palicte handlers, Jason Soong and RJJ Promotions would love to see this happen and negotiations with 360 Promotions will probably be relatively smooth.

For the third co-main event, which is probably the hardest to make due to politics and ego, it would be great to see IBF super flyweight champion, Jerwin Ancajas of the MP Promotions who is promoted by Top Rank, defend against his mandatory challenger, Jonas Sultan of the ALA Promotions. Both handlers of the two boxers are amenable to this fight even if it fits two Filipinos together. Besides it?s mandatory. As they say, Philippine boxing has reached its pinnacle. It's time to have big title fights between two Filipinos much like the Mexicans do. Nothing wrong with that!

I say this is hardest to put together under Superfly 3 because Top Rank?s Bob Arum, understandably would want to have his cake and eat it too. I doubt if he will want to share the cake with Tom Loeffler?s 360 Promotions even if the fans will clamor for it. But then again, in boxing you should never say never. Loeffler is a hell of a nice guy and I am sure Bob Arum will find it easy to work with him unlike with Golden Boy Promotions with whom he has some issues.

Now if business practices will make it difficult to do this, I would love to see Ancajas fight the next best guy, Rau Shee Warren of Cincinnati, Ohio. That would be a great fight as well.

So how about it Mr. Loeffer? Would you not agree that the three fights would be a good fit for Superfly 3?
