Jerwin Ancajas - Humble and Generous

Many has been written regarding Jerwin Ancajas, particularly his being a very humble champion. That was easy to write as Ancajas without question, showed that trait vividly from the day he stepped foot in Los Angeles.

Perhaps it was because that this was his first trip to LA that is why his shyness was probably misconstrued.

We however personally experienced that shyness has nothing to do with his being humble. That?s just how he is, thus he is fast becoming the new darling of Philippine boxing.

When Ancajas came to our offices to get his impression done for a mouthguard the day before he and his team flew to Texas, we saw how humble he was. Not only that. Ancajas was very respectful as well.

When we finally got the chance to deliver and fit his mouthguard we felt that again.. Except for Donnie Nietes, the IBF Flyweight champion, nobody else exhibits the humble traits that Ancajas has shown us. He was very appreciative and profusely thanked us for his new custom made mouthguard. Amongst all the Filipinos we made mouthguards for, only him and Nietes were like that. They were not like some who think that we owe it to them to make them a free mouthguard.

But Ancajas is not only humble. Like his idol Manny Pacquiao, he is very generous.

For instance, when he found out what I do in the Philippines as a dentist, together with a common friend, photographer Jhay Otamias, Ancajas cooked up an idea how to help us help people back in the Philippines. Ancajas posed for an exclusive photo for Otamias with his IBF belt. Then he signed the first copy. The said copy was re-printed on a limited basis and the prints were donated to our foundation, The Dentistry For Every Village Foundation. The prints will be sold through the social media, with the proceeds going to be used for the purchase of dental supplies and small hand instruments so the foundation can conduct a free dental outreach mission in Magallanes, Cavite sometime in April.

That is Jerwin Ancajas - humble and generous to the core!
