IBF superfly champion Jerwin Ancajas of the Philippines successfully defended his world title by stopping challenger Israel Gonzalez, knocking down the game Mexican once in the 1st and twice in the 10th en route to a 10th round TKO victory at the Bank of America Center in Corpus Christi, Texas broadcast live on ESPN in the United States and the Philippines.

Ancajas dominated Gonzalez all night landing 130 punches out of 477 he has thrown 84 of them power punches while Gonzalez, who waited to counterpunch, landed only 48 punches, 46 power punches.

Ancajas has now stopped 15 of last 16 opponents and improved his record to 29 wins, 1 loss and 1 draw with 20 knockouts. Gonzalez went down to his second defeat in 23 fights, absorbing his first knockout loss.

All three judges: Lisa Giampa, Joel Elizondo and Fernando Villareal had identical scores of 90 to 80 after 9 rounds in favor of Ancajas.

Ancajas, tabbed as Pacquiao's successor, thus made an impressive performance in his American debut and looks forward to face the other champions of the division.

The WBC superfly champion is the sensational Srisaket Sor Rungvisai of Thailand while the fearsome Naoya Inoue of Japan is the WBO champion while Khalid Yafai of UK holds the WBA belt.

Interviewed after the fight whether he wants to face the other champions, Ancajas said "I considered myself lower than the other champion but I want to face them."
