According to reports from Russia, Juan Martin 'Bai' Elorde lost to local boy Isa Chaniev by 6th round TKO at the Evloev Sports Palace in Nazran, Russia Saturday night (early Sunday morning Manila time) allowing the Russian to successfully defend his IBF Inter-Continental lightweight belt and annexed the WBO International lightweight title.

Chaniev (12-1-0, 6KOs) who also beat another Filipino in Rimar Metuda last year, is expected to crash into the world rankings in both the IBF and WBO lightweight division. The IBF lightweight champion is Robert Easter Jr of Ohio while the WBO world lightweight title is vacant after former champion Terry Flanagan of the UK moved up in weight.

Elorde, grandson of Filipino boxing great and hall of famer Flash Elorde, absorbed his second loss and dropped to 23-wins, 2-losses and a draw after 10 years as a professional.
