John Vincent Moralde (19-0,10KOs) of the Sanman Gym of Gen. Santos City will risk his unbeaten record when he takes on Toka Kahn-Clary (23-1, 16KOs) at the Strand Ballroom and Theater in Providence, Rhode Island.
Both Moralde and Kahn-Clary weighed in at 125 lbs during the official weigh-in. Sanman Promotions CEO Jim Claude Manangquil informed philboxing of the weights. Manangquil also informed that they will be disputing the regional WBC USNBC featherweight title. Their fight will be on December 1 (U.S. East coast time).
This card is promoted by Evander Holyfields Real Deal Boxing.
The 23 year old Moralde previously held the WBF International featherweight and junior featherweight titles and WBC ABCO featherweight title. In 2015, he was involved in a tragic ring death in Australia, when his opponent Brayd Smith, who lost by unanimous decision, collapsed after their fight and passed away two days later in the hospital.
Together with his Sanman Gym stablemates, he has been training in Florida under a Cuban coach, Moro Fernandez.
The 25 year old Kahn-Clary was born in Liberia. His only defeat was courtesy of a Filipino, Jhon Gemino, who knocked out Clary in the opening round last year in a Top Rank card. Clary has since racked up four straight wins, two by TKO, including picking up the WBA-NABA title. That earned him a spot in the top fifteen of the organizations rankings. Kahn-Clary resides in Rhode Island and will obviously be the hometown favorite.
