Undefeated junior lightweight prospect Harmonito dela Torre (19-0,12KO?s) of the Sanman Gym of Gen.Santos City will face what could very well be his toughest challenge on November 18 when he squares off against Mongolian Tugstsogt Nyambayar (8-0,8KO?s) at the Cosmopolitan in Las Vegas.
Nyambayar won a silver medal as a flyweight during the 2012 London Olympics. He lost to Cuban Robeisy Ramirez in the finals. Nyambayar, nicknamed ?King Tug? signed with Premier Boxing Champions (PBC) and now campaigns as a featherweight. He has stopped all of his professional opponents including one Filipino, Jhon Gemino. This was in Nyambayar?s last fight in Alabama last February where he beat Gemino by 10th round TKO.
The 25 year old Nyambayar is an accomplished amateur having won a bronze in the 2009 Asian championships and is also a silver medalist in the 2009 World Amateur Championships. He got a gold medal in the 2010 World University Championships.
Dela Torre has not fought since November of last year in Iowa where he beat Mexican Jose Luis Araiza by unanimous decision.
But Sanman Promotions CEO Jim Claude Manangquil is upbeat about Dela Torre?s chances. ?This will be a great fight. Both are undefeated boxers going head to head. Harmonito has trained hard for couple months in Miami and we are hoping for a big victory for him.?
Manangquil also informed philboxing that the fight will be promoted by Mayweather Promotions, Greg Cohen and Fight Card Promotions.
Dela Torre, together with other Sanman gym prospects trained in Florida under a Cuban coach. His other win in the United States was by majority decision against Guillermo Sanchez in New York. The 23 year old Dela Torre held a WBF world title in 2014.
Dela Torre for his part said in a message to philboxing: ?I have trained for this fight. I am in great shape. I know he is an Olympic silver medalist and a big puncher but I will come to Las Vegas for a victory.?
There will be two more Sanman boxers are set to fight in the United States. On November 15, Raymart Gaballo (16-0,14KO?s) will be pitted against Mexican Ernesto Guerrero (27-21,19KO?s) in Hawaii. Then on December 1, John Vincent Moralde (19-0,10 KO?s) will take on WBA-NABA featherweight titleholder Toka Kahn-Clary (23-1, 16KO?s) in Rhode Island.
