WBO International featherweight champion Mark 'Magnifico' Magsayo of the Philippines will defend his title against Shota Hayashi of Japan in his hometown in Bohol on November 25, this was announced during the press conference held at St Mark Hotel in Cebu on Saturday.

The undefeated and highly regarded 22-year-old Magsayo (17-0-0, 13KOs) has won the International belt against title contender Chris Avalos on April 23, 2016 in Cebu and has defended it three times since. Magsayo is currently ranked No. 2 in the featherweight division by the WBO behind No. 1 ranked Jojo Diaz Jr. (25-0-0, 13KOs) of El Monte, California. The champion of the division is Oscar Valdez of Nogales, Mexico who is also undefeated with a record of 23-0-0, 19KOs.

Shota Yahashi of Nagoya, Japan sports a record of 30 wins, 6 losses and 1 draw with 18 stoppages. He was the former Japanese featherweight champion. He last fought Markquil Salvana of the Philippines on Sep 3 in Kariya, Japan where he stopped the Gensan native in the 4th round.

?Hayashi can box and can slug it out. He is a strong fighter just like many Japanese fighters who are home to many world champions,? according to Magsayo's trainer Edmund Villamor. ?He fights in and out. He boxes you in the early rounds and mixes up in the later rounds. This is a big test for Magsayo.?

?I heard the Japanese boxer is tough so I welcome the challenge. My dream fight is against Oscar Valdez because I want to become a world champion,? Magsayo said.

Pinoy Pride returns to Bohol with its native son Magsayo taking on the spotlight. The last Pinoy Pride in Bohol was a let down when Rey 'Boom-Boom' Bautista got the wrong Genaro Garcia as an opponent. Bautista previously fought in front of a record crowd of more than 30,000 in Bohol on Nov. 19, 2005 against Obote Ameme of Tanzania.

In the support bouts, comebacking 'Prince' Albert Pagara takes on Mohammed Kambaluta of Tanzania for 10 rounds super bantamweight bout while Jeo Santisima faces Kichang Kim for another 10-round super bantamweight matchup.
