Aboard Norwegian Sky in the Bahamas ? The WBO executive committee voted to have a world interim title fight between No. 1 ranked Cesar Juarez of Mexico and No. 3 ranked Isaac Dogboe of Ghana in December during the ongoing 30th WBO convention here Thursday.

Juarez (20-5-0, 15KOs) was scheduled to fight reigning champion Jesse Magdaleno (25-0-0, 18KOs) of Las Vegas on Nov 11 in Fresno, California to be televised on ESPN but Magdaleno informed the WBO first week of October that he had a hand injury and could not proceed with the fight.

The WBO had initially reached out to No. 2 ranked former world bantamweight champion Marlon Tapales of the Philippines to fight Juarez in December for the interim world title but the Tapales camp informed the WBO that the December date is too early for Tapales to get in shape.

Dogboe, who also attended the last WBO convention in Puerto Rico, is here to personally lobby for the Juarez fight and got his wish. Juarez told the WBO executive committee that he is willing to bring the fight to Ghana in December but WBO president Francisco 'Paco' Valcarcel told him, ?It is not our mandate to order where to hold the fight. You have to convince Juarez to go to Ghana and fight you there.?

Dogboe (17-0-0, 11KOs) captured the WBO International super bantamweight title last July 22 by stopping Javier Nicolas Chacon (25-4-1, 7KOs) of Argentina in Accra, Ghana.

Juarez had a fight of the year caliber fight against Nonito Donaire on Dec. 11, 2015 where he lost by decision but came back strong winning against Filipinos Albert Pagara, Richard Pumicpic and Eugene Lagos to earn a mandatory against Magdaleno.

Meanwhile, Tapales, who lost his bantamweight title on the scales in Japan last April, will have to wait in the sidelines to get another opportunity to fight for a world title ? if and when he is ready.
