JAPANESE 'MONSTER' INOUE DESTROYS NIEVES IN 6

CARSON, CA -- Japanese 'Monster" Naoya Inoue lived up to his moniker after he destroyed Antonio Nieves of Cleveland, Ohio in six rounds to successfully defend his WBO world super flyweight title at the StubHub Center here Saturday night.
Inoue (14-0-0, 12KO) of Yokohama, Japan dropped Nieves (17-2-2, 9KO) in round five but Nieves survived the round. In round six, Inoue proceeded to chase him from pillar to post making Nieves quit before round 7 started.
Inoue, who captured the WBC world light flyweight title in his 6th professional fight, showed his American audience the destructive force he was in his first professional fight away from Japan.
