LIU ZHONG AND WUZHATI WIN WBO GREATER CHINA BELTS IN JINAN

JINAN, CHINA - Liu Zhong outworked and outpunched Chen Sen in the finals of the super bantamweight division of the Major League Boxing tournament and was crowned WBO Greater China champion in his division in one of the main bouts of a fight card held at the Huang Ting Stadium.

Liu was more aggressive and relied on volume while Chen?s counters were not enough to swing the tide. The scores ? Surat Soikrachang ? 79-73, Han Hongxiang ? 80-72, Yin Haiyang ? 78-74.

The League of Fists professional boxing tournament has been renamed MAJOR LEAGUE BOXING. The winners of the respective divisions in this grassroots pro boxing talent search receives a WBO Greater China title belt. This has been an ongoing project of SECA and TOP RANK.

In the light heavyweight finals, Wuzhati Nuerlang beat Maimaitijiang Nuermaimaiti by TKO at the start of the fifth round when the latter did not continue fighting due to n injured right elbow. It was a fun slugfest while it lasted. Wuzhati also was awarded a WBO china belt.

The card saw two SECA prospects Xu Que and Liu Yongcai beat their Indonesian opponents, Waldo Sabu and Angky Angkotta respectively. (See separate story) Sabu was stopped in the sixth and final round while Angkotta lost a lopsided decision.

The bouts were officiated by the Professional Boxing Commission of China.
