TALISAY CITY, CEBU ? Fight fans in Barangay Biasong were treated to eleven amateur contests Sunday night organized by the Talisay City Amateur Boxing Association (TACABA). The event also served to showcase and honor two gold medal winning products of their amateur program ? Marvin and Marco Pomar.

The Pomar brothers were part of the Central Visayas boxing team that took five of the six boxing gold medals at stake during the PRISAA 2017 National games held in Zambales last month. Marvin ruled the light flyweight category while Marco captured gold in the flyweight division. Another product of the Talisay City amateur boxing program, Kit Ceron Garces, was recently recruited to join the Amateur Boxing Association of the Philippines (ABAP) training pool.

International referee Teddy Alivio served as chief juror for the Talisay boxing matches with referee-judges Edwin Nerves, Jerry Bacus and Boy Pilonio.
All the fights went the full route and the winners were David Mancao (20kgs), Wyn Cabradilla (25kgs), Justin Trazo (26kgs), Joperson Trazo (30kgs), Kent Nino Abatayo (45kgs), Jhean Binag (48kgs), Limbert Calnap (47kgs), James Briones (47kgs), Berland Robles (50kgs), Kenneth de Lantar (52kgs).

Marvin Pomar won his fight on points against Mardy Cordeno and Marco Pomar had an exhibition against a pro boxer Steven Noblefranca. Barangay Captain Rey Bas and Councilor Roy Nagal were on hand to award the winners. Participating fighters were from the 10,000BC gym, Big Yellow and Batang Lacion Stables.
