
MAGSAYO STOPS ISSA IN 1ST; SANTISIMA DOMINATES SURO

CEBU CITY -- Mark 'Magnifico' Magsayo (16-0-0, 12KOs) made short work of Issa Nampepeche (24-8-4, 11KOs) of Tanzania dispatching the visitor in the very first round of the scheduled 10-round featherweight contest on the main undercard of the Donnie Nietes vs Komgrich Nantapech IBF world flyweight championship at the Waterfront Hotel & Casino here Saturday night.
Magsayo connected with a well-timed counter left cross midway in the first roound that sent Nampepeche to the seat of his pants. Magsayo then finished the Tanzanian with a barrage of lefts and rights sending Nampepeche again to the canvas. Referee Tony Pesons waived off the contest. Time 2:05 of the first round.

Jeo 'Santino' Santisima (13-2-0, 11KOs) sent Master Suro (11-9-1, 2KOs) of Indonesia to the canvas in the 6th round and deliverd a dominant performance to earn a shutout unanimous decision with all three judges gave all the rounds to Santisima, 100-89. Master Suro exhibited good head and body movement that allowed him to evade Santisima's bombs. In the fifth, Santisima connected with hard body and head shots. In the 6th Santisima finally caught Suro with a couple of head shots in Suro's corner that sent Suro to the canvas for the first time. Suro used his wily defensive moves to finish the fight.
Other completed bouts:
Virgel Vitor (10-1-0, 6KOs) of Tagbilaran City defeated Michael Escobia (11-15-1, 3KOs) by unanimous decision with scores of 97-93, 96-94 and 96-94. Vitor had an impressive 3rd and 4th rounds, peppering Escobia with combinations to the head and body. Escobia however, instead of wilting in surged forward and put the pressure on Vitor that neutralized Vitor's offensive and make him tentative. The fight has been transformed into a sluggish contest, less action and a lot of holding as both fighters slowed down.
Junrel Jimenez (7-1-0, 4KOs) of Cebu City stopped Romulo Ramanya (7-11-3, 3KOs) scheduled 8-round flyweight bout. Time of stoppage was at 2:46 of the 6th round.
In the opening bout Christian Bacolod (7-0-0, 5KOs) of Cebu City registered his 7th win after he outpoints Mike Kinaadman (5-2-2, 4KOs) of Iligan City over 6 rounds in their flyweight bout. Scores: 58-56, 59-55, 59-55.
