Los Angeles, CA -- As promised, Manny Pacquiao arrived at the LAX earlier tonight (Saturday, LA time) to start preparing for his epic second battle with the legendary Mexican warrior Marco Antonio Barrera at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas on October 6, 2007.
Pacquiao came in to LA in a nice white outfit, not only looking dapper as a GQ model but as fit as any fighter can be. ?He really looks good and ready to go,? a local pundit commented upon seeing Pacquiao. No one in the crowd would disagree for indeed, Pacquiao looks very good and appears ready even if the fight went down tonight. He does not even show a bit of wear from the long 10-hour flight across the Pacific.
Last August, many disagreed with Pacquiao?s decision to train at the gym of his friend Wakee Salud in Cebu City. Too many distraction, people said. But, with the renowned trainer, Freddie Roach flying to Cebu to supervise his training, things gradually fell in place.
But, what made the difference in Cebu was Roach?s insistence that the horde of Pacquiao fans be barred from the training site so the team can formulate their game plan and learn it by heart. From all intents and purposes, reports coming out of Cebu indicate that they have indeed accomplished that. Thanks in no small measure to Pacquiao?s sparring mates, a couple of which were imported from Mexico via the Wildcard Gym in Hollywood. Now, for the next week or so, all they need to do is polish it up and focus on the task ahead, the ultimate defeat and retirement of Barrera.

Present at the LAX to meet him were friends and ?associates? long known to have been around since Pacquiao started making LA one of his training bases. The veritable veteran scribe, Hermie Rivera who is now based in northern California was there as well.
