OSAKA, Japan ? Former two time world champion Gerry Pe?alosa spent considerable time giving pointers to WBO world bantamweight champion Marlon Tapales as Tapales worked out at the Green Tsuda Gym here Thursday afternoon, ahead of Tapales's scheduled title defense against local boy Shohei Omori at the 8,000 capacity Edion Arena on Sunday night.

?You should be aggressive from the start. Don't give him any chance to gain confidence,? Pe?alosa, who himself fought three times in Japan and became a world champion for the first time when he defeated the highly popular Hiroshi Kawashima in February 1997 in Tokyo, told Tapales while doing the mitts with trainer Fernando Ocon.

?He still has phobia from his knockout loss from you so you should take advantage of that and not give him any confidence. If you get a chance, finish him right away,? added Pe?alosa who is also a southpaw like Tapales and likewise also gave Tapales technical advise on how to move his feet against his taller opponent and other pointers.

Tapales who is still three pounds over the bantamweight limit two days before the weighin scheduled on Saturday did several rounds with the heavy bag and mitts.

MORE SUPPORTERS COMING TO OSAKA TO SUPPORT TAPALES

Tapales's manager Rex 'Wakee' Salud informed Philboxing that many more supporters are coming to Osaka to support Tapales's bid to successfully defend his title on Sunday. Actor Cesar Montano and several friends are coming over to watch the fight. Also coming are Naris Singwangcha from Thailand and Salud's Japanese contacts Toshiaki Kobayashi and Matsuka. Gerry Penalosa's wife Goddy, children and a few relatives have also arrived to show their support. A large group of Filipino expats have also pledged to come to the fight.
