
MELINDO'S OPPONENT SAKKREERIN ARRIVES TODAY

CEBU ? Fahlan Sakkreerin Jr of Thailand is set to arrived tonight ahead of his IBF Interim world light flyweight showdown with local boy Milan Melindo on Saturday at the historic Cebu Coliseum. Sakkreerin ((birth name Teerapong Uthaida) will be accompanied by his manager Jimmy Chaichotchuang and trainer Rian Munton on PAL PR 2867 which is expected to touch down at the Mactan airport at 9:10 p.m.
Sakkreerin and his team will face local sports scribes Tuesday noon at the St Mark's Hotel in uptown Cebu.
This will be Melindo's third chance to fight for a world title after his two previous attempts ended in defeats. He lost to Juan Francisco Estrada of Mexico for the WBO/WBA world flyweight titles on July 27, 2013 in Macau and to Javier Mendoza of Mexico for the IBF light flyweight title on May 30, 2015 in Mexico.
Sakkreein Jr, meanwhile, lost to Katsunari Takayama for the IBF world minimumweight title on April 22, 2015.
In the main undercard of the 'Pinoy Pride 39' event dubbed as 'Road to Redemption', WBO No. 1 super lightweight Jason 'El Ni?o' Pagara (39-2-0, 24KOs) takes on former world champion Jose Alfaro (28-10-1, 24KOs) of Nicaragua in a 10-round welterweight bout. Alfaro and his trainer Gustavo Herrera are set to arrive early Tuesday morning in Cebu.
Also seeing action is comebacking 'Prince' Albert Pagara (26-1-0, 18KOs) who will take on Raymond Commey (16-3-0, 9KOs) of Ghana in a 10-round featherweight bout. Commey and his trainer Emmanuel Neequaye are scheduled to arrive in Cebu early Wednesday morning.
ALA Gym's top prospects are also seeing action on the undercard: Jeo Santisima (11-2-0, 10KOs) of Masbate will take on power puncher Rex Wao (11-3-0, 9KOs) of Baguio City in a 10-round super bantamweight bout; WBO Oriental super bantamweight champion Jimmy Paypa (18-3-1, 6KOs) of Lanao del Sur will face Jerry Nardo (21-9-0, 11KOs) of Bacolod City; Jonas Sultan (11-3-0, 7KOs) of Zamboanga del Norte will take on Jonathan Francisco (8-6-1, 2KOs) also of Zamboanga del Norte; Melvin 'Gringo' Jerusalem (10-0-0, 7KOs) of Bukidnon takes on Bonjon Loperez (10-5-1, 5KOs) of Angono, Rizal and Kevin 'Jake' Cataraja (4-0-0, 3KOs) of Cebu City who will face John Kenan Villaflor (6-1-2, 2KOs) also of Cebu City.
