SHANGHAI, CHINA ? Professional boxing in China got a big boost last weekend when two-time Olympic gold medalist Zou Shiming captured his first professional world title on the undercard of the Manny Pacquiao vs Jessie Vargas fight in Las Vegas.

The newly crowned WBO flyweight champion was on hand during the launching of the third season of the League of Fists boxing tournament in Shanghai.

SECA CEO Sheng Li talked about the continuing search for boxing talent where the boxers who stand out will be given the opportunity to train in the United States. Top Rank CEO Bob Arum gave a video message where he cited the discipline and talent of the Chinese boxers. WBO Vice President for Asia-Pacific Leon Panoncillo was also on hand and he projected that five years from now, China will produce more world boxing champions.

The LEAGUE OF FISTS, a tournament style boxing competition which aims to develop the pro boxing talent in mainland China, started in September 2015 and has since held tournament finals for season one where the winners were crowned WBO Greater China champions in their respective weight categories.

Sheng Li also announced the inclusion of foreign boxers for season three. There will be three fight cards held on November 11,12 and 13 with the WBO Greater China title in the bantamweight division being disputed on Friday between Xie Zhiquan and Yeliqiati Nihemaituola.

Boxing fans will also get to see semi-final bouts for season two in each of the three fight dates.
