CEBU ? Rising prospect Jhack Tepora of the Omega Gym of Cebu will headline the third offering of the ?WHO?S NEXT?? pro-boxing series this December 2 at the Mandaue City Sports Complex.
Tepora will be pitted against his first foreign foe ? Galih Susanto of Indonesia ? and they will battle for the vacant WBO Oriental super bantamweight title.
The 23 year old Tepora (18-0,13KO?s) is the reigning WBO Asia-Pacific Youth superbantamweight titlist. Last July he defended his title by beating Bryan Capangpangan by TKO in the opening round. Tepora is also a former WBF Asia-Pacific super bantamweight titlist. If he beats Susanto, he will add a third regional belt to his collection.
The 26 year old Susanto (12-6-1,2KO?s) once fought for the PABA superflyweight and IBF Pan-pacific super bantamweight titles but lost both times by unanimous decision in Thailand. Two years ago, Susanto lost to Marlon Tapales by unanimous decision in Davao City. Tapales is currently the WBO world champion in the bantamweight division.
Tepora bared his thoughts about the newly crowned WBO super bantamweight world champion Jessie Magdaleno, who dethroned Filipino Nonito Donaire in Las Vegas on the Manny Paqcuiao-Jessie Vargas undercard.
?Magdaleno?s jab was the key in the fight.? Tepora said, ?He was able to control the figth with his jab, he won a close fight. I would like to fight him someday, if given the opportunity.?
The October 2016 rankings World Boxing Organization (WBO) has Tepora at number 14 among the contenders of the 122 lb division.
Fight fans will also get to see hard slugger Kenny Demecillo, who will defend his WBF Asia-Pacific bantamweight title against Jestoni Autida of the Pe?alosa stable.
?Who?s Next?? 3 was officially launched Monday at the International Pharmaceutical Inc. (IPI) main office. There will be eight more bouts on the undercard which will include prospects Christian Araneta and former Olympian Mark Anthony Barriga.
The December 2 promotion is offered free to the public by Omega Pro Sports International. There will be added entertainment and raffle prizes for the fans in attendance.
L-R: OPSI conditioning coach Dr Timothy James Dejano, Kenny Demecillo, OPSI president Pio Paulo Castillo, Jhack Tepora, Christian Araneta and newly minted OPSI vice-president Rico Navarro.
