Fight fans in Cagayan de Oro are in for a treat this October 28 with three WBO regional title belts at stake.
Former world title challenger ?Vicious? Vic Saludar (12-2,9KO?s) will face another Filipino, Jimboy Haya (9-2-2,6KO?s)for the vacant WBO Oriental minimumweight title.
Last December 31, Saludar was ahead on the judges? scores after knocking down Kosei Tanaka of Japan in the fifth round of their WBO minimumweight world title bout before succumbing to a body shot in the sixth.
Saludar has since bounced back to the win column. Last April in Gen.Santos City, he retained the WBO Asia Pacific title by unanimous decision against Lito Dante.
Haya will be going for his first belt. His last two fights were stoppage wins against Bonjun Loperez and Fabio Marfa. During the official weigh-in held Thursday, Saludar was at 104lbs while Haya stepped on the scales at 103lbs.
Shota Kawaguchi (19-7-1,8KO?s) of Japan and Rakniran Muadransarakam (12-0,8KO?s) of Thailand will dispute the interim WBO Asia Pacific super flyweight title.
Kawaguchi weighed at the division limit of 115lbs while Muadransarakam was at 114.5lbs. Kawaguchi lost to former WBC flyweight champion Sonny Boy Jaro twice last year but he has beaten another Filipino, Jonathan Francisco, this year by unanimous decision.
Muadransarakam captured the interim WBO title by beating Hashimu Suberi of Tanzania by unanimous decision in Thailand last April.
Filipinos Robert Paradero and Ronie Tanallon will battle for the vacant WBO Youth Asia Pacific Youth minimumweight title.
Paradero (12-0,8KO?s) and Tanallon (9-2-1,2KO?s) both weighed 105lbs during the official weigh-in.
