
HOPKINS ENDS THREE DECADE BOXING CAREER ON DECEMBER 17

51 year old Bernard "The Executioner" Hopkins (55- 7-2, 32 KO?s) who's a double former world champion and future Hall of Famer, will conclude his career of almost 3 decades, when he clashes with the light heavyweight puncher Joe Smith, Jr. (21-1, 18 KO?s) in what has been termed ?A Bye-bye broadcast via HBO Championship Boxing at the legendary Inglewood Forum in California, on December 17.
The WBC reports that both fighters attended a press conference to present their fight to the Los Angeles press along with promoters Oscar De la Hoya and Joe De Guardia.
Hopkins said ?This is so very historic, even though we have been part of so many historic events. Obviously this is different to all those things I have done, as this is ?the end," Hopkins mentioned, somewhat wistfully adding: "It's time to conclude my career of 29 years in an iconic place....Inglewood Forum in California."
Smith said ?I am so happy for being chosen to fight Bernard Hopkins on his last fight on December 17.? He promised to ?train hard, and I will give you a great fight.?
Hopkins vs. Smith is a light heavyweight match scheduled for 12 rounds. It is presented by Golden Boy Promotions in association with Star Boxing and sponsored by Cerveza Tecate, BORN BOLD and Casa M?xico Tequila. HBO World Championship Boxing?. Live broadcasting starts 10:00 p.m. ET/PT.
