WBO No. 1 super lightweight contender Jason Pagara of the Philippines will face former world champion Jose Alfaro of Nicaragua on the main undercard of the IBF Interim world junior flyweight bout between Milan Melindo of the Philippines and Fahlan Sakkreerin Jr of Thailand on the loaded 'Pinoy Pride 29' card scheduled on Nov. 26 at the Cebu Coliseum in Cebu City, ALA Promotions has informed Philboxing.com.
The hard-punching Alfaro (28-10-1, 24KOs) won the vacant WBA world lightweight title on Dec. 29, 2007 against Prawet Singwancha of Thailand in Westfalen, Germany. He however lost the title in his first defense on May 19, 2008 against Yusuke Koboni in Tokyo, Japan. On his attempt to win another world title, Alfaro waged wars against a string of elite fighters including Mexican legend Erik Morales, Antonio DeMarco, Yoshihiro Kamegai, Humberto Soto and lately against IBF super lightweight world champion Eduard Troyanovsky of Russia and top contenders Jose Zepeda and Pedro Campa.
Pagara (39-2-0, 24KOs) who knocked out Abraham Alvarez in the 3rd round in his last bout at the San Mateo Event Center in San Mateo, CA on July 9 and hasn't lost a fight in five years, has yet to face the big names of the division the likes of Terence Crawford, Victor Postol, Lucas Matthysse, Ruslan Provodnikov and Lamont Peterson.
The 'Pinoy Pride 39' stacked card includes the return of Albert Pagara and top prospects Jeo Santisima, Kevin Jake Cataraja and WBO Oriental bantamweight champion Jimmy Paypa whose respective opponents have yet to be announced.
