Rimar Metuda of the Sanman Gym of Gen. Santos City suffered his first career loss over the weekend in Chilyabinsk, Russia.

Metuda lost by unanimous decision to Mirzhan Zhaksylykov (10W-1L,4KO?s) of Kazakhstan in their battle for the vacant WBC ABCO Silver super featherweight title. The boxrec record of the 31 year old Zhaksylykov shows him winning the regional PABA featherweight title in 2009 but he had no fights registered from March 2010 till this year. It was also reported earlier that Zhaksylykov, was a replacement for his injured stable mate Mark Urbanux.

The 22 year old Metuda, a southpaw, is now 10W-1 L,5KO?s. He holds the World Boxing Federation (WBF) Asia-Pacific featherweight title. In his last fight, he beat Joel Hecotibo by second round knockout in T?boli, South Cotabato. This was Metuda?s first trip overseas.

The fight video showed Zhaksylykov to be more aggressive and busier for most of the fight. Metuda preferred to counter and fight off the ropes. Zhaksylykov also landed harder blows to the body and head as the rounds progressed. The scores were 99-91,99-91 and 98-92 after ten rounds.

Sanman Promotions CEO Jim Claude ?JC? Manangquil told philboxing that this is a learning experience for his prospect. ?It?s back to the drawing board for Metuda. It was a good experience for him. Hopefully, he learned something and will come back stronger.?
