Romero "Dynamite" Duno (10W-1L,9KO?s) is looking to stop his Thai opponent Paiboon Lorkam (16W-8L,5KO?s) when they clash on September 10 at the Tupi Municipal gym in Tupi, South Cotabato.
Lorkram has seen action here in the Philippines using his ring name Maxsaisai Sithsaithong. Two years ago, he went the full route before losing a unanimous decision to AJ Banal in Cebu City. In March of 2013, he also lost a unanimous decision to Juan Martin Elorde in Pasay City for the vacant WBO Asia-Pacific super featherweight title. Nine months later he would be stopped in nine rounds by Jun Doliguez in Agoncillo, Batangas.
The 20 year old Duno, a native of General Santos City, wants to score a knockout in front of his hometown fans in their battle for the vacant WBC Asian Boxing council super featherweight title.
This will be Duno's second fight after suffering his only loss, by unanimous verdict in Russia at the hands of Mikhail Alexeev for the vacant WBO Youth super featherweight title last May 6.
Last June, Duno won via 3rd round stoppage over veteran Eusebio Baluarte at the Gaisano Mall in Gensan.
The Duno-Lorkam title-fight is one of the double WBC Asia championship fights dubbed as the "Battle in Tupi" presented by the Sanman Promotions.
Unbeaten Reymart ?Gensan Assassin? Gaballo ( 14W-0L, 12KO?s) will fight another Thai, Manot Comput a.k.a. Yodpichai Sithsaithong (12W-13L,6KO?s) for the vacant WBC Asia Boxing Council super bantamweight title.
The 20 year old Gaballo?s last seven bouts ended by KO or TKO.
Yodpichai has been to the Philippine thrice and was stopped by quality boxers like Jonathan Taconing, Dave Pe?alosa and Marlon Tapales, who is now the WBO world bantamweight champion.
The 33-year old Yodpichai (Comput) has won his last two fights by TKO against fellow Thai fighters Thepyothin Yodwaree and Thawi Chaisat in Bangkok.
?I?m excited to be fighting for my first title fight. I can?t wait for September 10 and put that WBC belt in my waist,? said Gaballo via e-mail message to philboxing.
?Gaballo is probably the hardest hitting boxer in the Sanman Gym,? said Jim Claude ?JC? Manangquil, chief executive officer of the Sanman Promotions in General Santos City. ?He?s very young and is still learning the sport of boxing,?.
Gaballo, who only started boxing at the age of 16, has a big upside according to Manangquil. ?He has something that you have to be born with and that is power,? Manangquil added.
Sanman Promotions also informed philboxing that Gaballo and fellow undefeated stablemates John Vincent Moralde (16-0) and Mike Plania (11-0) are scheduled already to be based in Miami in Florida, USA under top Cuban boxing trainer Moro Hernandez.
They will be joining another Sanman stablemate, unbeaten Harmonito ?Hammer? dela Torre, who already has won his debut fight in the United States. Hernandez used to train world champion Guillermo Rigondeaux, Yuri Gamboa and Luis Ortiz. Dela Torre even had a chance to spar several times with Rigondeaux at the Moros Gym in Miami.
