CEBU ? Newly minted WBO bantamweight champion Marlon 'The Nightmare' Tapales of Lanao del Norte has been swarmed with offers to defend his title against highly rated contenders, Tapales's manager Rex 'Wakee' Salud informed Philboxing.

?We've got a lot of offers right now on the table. But we're still studying our options,? Salud said.

Salud informed that an offer has been made from London for Tapales to defend his title against former IBF superfly world champion and WBO rated No. 12 bantamweight Paul Butler in London in October. Another offer was for Tapales to defend his title in Japan against the younger brother of WBO superfly champion Naoya Inoue, Takuma Inoue who is rated No. 4 by the WBC and No. 11 by the WBO. Shohei Omori, whom Tapales knocked out in the 2nd round last December to earn a mandatory on then world champion Pungluang Sor Singyu, also offered to have a rematch and a chance to challenge for the title. Yet another offer was coming from a Vietnamese promoter who wanted to stage a title fight between Tapales and an Australian boxer in Vietnam.

?These are good fights for Marlon, especially against Butler and Inoue,? Salud said. ?We'll see. We may take the October fight in London and if Marlon wins, we'll fight Inoue in December in Japan.?

Tapales (29-2-0, 12KO) won the WBO world batamweight title by dethroning Pungluang Sor Sirngyu of Thailand on July 27 in the historic city of Ayutthaya in Thailand in a dramatic 11th round stoppage of Sor Singyu after Tapales himself was sent to the canvas twice in the fifth round.
