
BOXING SAGA RETURNS TO THE WATER CUBE

BEIJING, CHINA ? The Multi-functional Hall of Beijing?s Aquatic Center once again played host to a back to back weekend fight card featuring more up and coming professional boxers.
Day one featured ten four round bouts in the featherweight, lightweight, welterweight and middleweight categories.
Featherweights Jiang Changjian and Yin Zhaofeng opened the festivities with Jiang scoring a knockdown in the second round. But in the third, a clash of heads inflicted a deep cut on the left eyelid of Jiang and the fight was stopped and went to the scorecards.
Judges Yuan Yunzi, Edward Ligas and Sungworn Klungboonkrung all scored 28-28.
He Changkai survived a knockdown in the opening round and his series of hard shots drew blood Yuan Cheng?s nose. The fight was stopped before the start of the second round when Yuan was assessed to have a broken nose, handing He the TKO win in their lightweight clash.
Middleweight Yan Jie prevailed by TKO after Yaxierjiang chose not to answer the bell for the third round. Mai Jintian beat Zhang Hongpeng by unanimous decision in their featherweight fight.
In another middleweight bout, Adili won by TKO at the end of the second round after Li Kaiwen chose not to continue fighting after complaining of pain in his right hand. Welterweight Nuerlanbieke beat Feng Hao by TKO in the opening round by battering him in a corner forcing referee Sungworn Klungboonkrung to stop the fight at the 2:22 mark.
Four more fights ended in draws underscoring the competitiveness of the fight card.
Lightweights Zheng Junxi and Aketelieke fought to a unanimous draw. ( 38-38 from Edward Ligas, Peng Yuanlong and Han Hongxiang), welterweights Yesibolesen and Zhang Ziliang battled to a split draw (Edward Ligas ? 38-38, Wang Lin ? 39-37 for Zhang, Sawaeng Thaweekoon ? 39-37 for Yesibolesen), Middleweights Talifeng vs Chang Shaohan ended in a majority draw (Pen Yuanlong and Danrex Tapdasan ? 38-38, Mekin Sumon ? 39-37 for Cheng) and welterweights Chen Xiaolong and Dong Youli also had a majority draw (Luo Mei and Edward Ligas 38-38, Han Honxiang ? 39-37 for Chen).
Boxing Saga is promoted by GWTS and officiated by the Professional Boxing Commission (PBC), International. The Water Cube, also known as the National Aquatic Center, will have another batch of ten four round bouts this Saturday August 13.
