In a scheduled 6-round middleweight bout, local boy Ricardo Pinell connected with a wicked left cross to the chin of Roberto Yong of Phoenix, AZ at 1:44 in the second round that fell Yong face first to the canvas as the referee immediately waived off the contest. Pinell upped his record to 14-3-1 6-8-2 win-loss-draw record with 8 knockouts while Yong dropped to 5-9-2 with 4KO (top photo).

Mauricio Zavaleta (3-2-0, 2KO) of San Leandro, CA dominated Darren Mallard Jr (3-2-1, 0K) of Sacramento, CA in their 6 round junior middleweight bout. Zavaleta, the more busier fighter, scored heavily with overhand rights as Mallard Jr could not seem to find his bearing except in the last round where Mallard came alive and fought toe to toe but it was too late. Zavaleta though only earned a majority decision win as one judge scored the fight a draw, 57-57. The two other judges have identical scores of 59-55 in favor of Zavaleta.

Undefeated prospect Pete Duran (14-0-1, 11KO) of Mexico was held into a split draw by veteran Filipino journeyman Edgar Gabejan (27-33-7, 9KO) in their eight round super featherweight fight. Duran timed Gabejan with good counters but Gabejan also scored with his wild haymakers. Judges' scores: 78-74 for Gabejan, 77-75 for Duran and one judge had it 76-76 even.

In a 4-round flyweight bout, Israel Hernandez (1-2-1) of San Leandro, CA gets into the win column by defeating debuting Michael Flores of Los Angeles, CA. Scores: 40-36 twice and 39-35.

In the curtain raiser, Lennard Davis IV of Oakland won by unanimous decision his professional debut against David Figueroa (1-1-0, 0KO) of Oxnard, CA in their 4-round junior welterweight bout.
