SAN FRANCISCO ? IBF world flyweight champion Johnriel Casimero of the Philippines has been tabbed to fight on the undercard of the Gennady Golovkin vs Kell Brook mega fight at the O2 Arena in London on September 10, international matchmaker Sean Gibbons, who is with Team Casimero and is in town for the Pagara-Juarez fight, has informed Philboxing.

?Sampson [Lewkowicz, Casimero's promoter] is talking to Eddie Hearn [of Martchroom Boxing] right now in putting Casimero on the undercard of Golovkin-Brook against one of the English boys,? Gibbons said.

Earlier, Casimero called out pound for pound king and WBC flyweight champion Roman Gonzalez and WBA flyweight champion Juan Francisco Estrada for a unification bout but ?Chocolatito is fighting WBC super flyweight champion Carlos Cuadras on September 10 and Estrada is in negotiation to fight [WBO junior flyweight champion Donnie] Nietes on September 24 so it's the best option for Casimero to be on the Golovkin-Brook undercard to position himself against Gonzalez,? Gibbons said.

The Golovkin-Brook and the Gonzalez-Cuadras fights will be both carried by HBO so if the Casimero fight in London also makes to the HBO telecast, it will be a good opportunity for Casimero to be seen by the HBO boxing audience.

Casimero won the IBF light flyweight title against local boy Luis Alberto Zarate of Argentina on Feb. 10, 2012 where the infamous riot broke out after the fight. Casimero successfully defended the belt three times before losing it on the scales against Mauricio Fuentes on May 3, 2014. Casimero later moved up in weight to challenge IBF flyweight champion Amnat Ruenroeng of Thailand on June 27, 2015 in Bangkok but lost by decision in a foul-infested fight. In a rematch, Casimero knocked out Ruenroeng in the 4th round during the IBF convention in Beijing, China last May 25.
