LEAGUE OF FISTS II MAKES A SPLASH INSIDE THE WATER CUBE

BEIJING, CHINA ? The League of Fists boxing tournament moved from Shanghai to Beijing with fourteen fights in the first of a back to back weekend fight card. The protagonists were from three weight categories - junior flyweight, super bantamweight and light heavyweight.

Musitapa Aishajiang and Tangjiareke Bulati opened the show with Musitapa winning 40-36 from judges Luo Mei, Han Hongxiang and Surat Soikrachang.

Wuzhati Nuerlang beat Yu Jianhong by TKO in the third round. Referee Surat Soikrachang stopped the fight at the59 second mark with Yu being battered by heavy head and body shots.

Le Hongwei got a unanimous verdict over Zhang Lin. Scores of 40-36 from Du Liqiang, Han Hongxiang and Surat Soikrachang.

Sun Zhanguo won a hard fought majority decision over Liu Hao. Scores ? Luo Mei ? 40-36, Salven Lagumbay ? 38-38, Mekin Sumon ? 39-37.

Li Guangxiong vs Wu Rongguo resulted in a majority draw. Scores ? Yuan Yunzi and Danrex Tapdasan ? 38-38, Salven Lagumbay ? 37-39.

Zhang Xuanming and Chao Lemen engaged in a back and forth action packed fight with Chao prevailing by unanimous decision. Scores- Wang Bo ? 39-37, Salven Lagumbay ? 40-36, Mekin Sumon ? 39-37.

Maimaitijiang Nuermaimaiti vs Shi Haotian ended in a technical draw after a clash of heads inflicted a deep cut on the right eyelid of Maimaitijiang in the second round.

Xu Zhanfeng and Yang Zhengpeng also reached a majority draw. Judges scores - Peng Yuanglong and Yuan Yunzi ? 38-38, Luo Mei ? 39-37.

Jiang Qiang caught Halimulati Paerhati with a jolting right in the second and proceeded to land another volley when he cornered Halimulati prompting referee Sawaeng Thaweekoon to call a halt at the 2:42 mark.

Zhang Chengbo dropped Aisikaer with a right to the temple in the second round. Aisikaer?s cornerman threw in the towel when Referee Danrex Tapdasan started his count. Time ? 0:48.

Liu Zhong landed hard body shots on Arong Akemu, who chose not the answer the bell for the third round.

Ma Haibin beat Zeng Yujie by unanimous decision. Zeng was also cut in the dying seconds of the 4th and final round due to an accidental head butt. Scores ? Peng Yuanlong and Han Hongxiang ? 39-37, Mekin Sumon ? 40-36.

In what was the best fight of the night, unbeaten light heavyweights Mielifeier Daliebieke and Muhetaer Maihemuti engaged in a shootout with Muhetaer winning a unanimous decision. Scores ? Salven Lagumbay- 39-36 and Wang Bo and Sawaeng Thaweekoon ? 40-36.

Xu Runlong vs Chao Ke wrapped up the evening with Chao winning 39-37 on the scores of Slaven Lagumbay, Wang Bo and Sawaeng Thaweekoon.

The bouts were officiated by the Professional Boxing Commission, International. The League of Fists boxing tournament is now in its second season and is promoted by SECA and Top Rank.

The Friday fights were held inside the Multi-Functional Hall of the Water Cube in Beijing?s Olympic Park. The Water Cube is known for hosting the swimming and diving competitions during the 2008 Beijing Olympics.

The fights on July 9 Saturday will still be at the Water Cube with two finals bouts for League of Fists season one which will have the WBO Greater China belt at stake in the 130lb and 168lb weight divisions. The vacant WBO Oriental super middleweight title will be disputed in the man even by Zulpikar Maimaitiali of China and Thomas Mashali of Tanzania.
