SHANGHAI ? There were seven bouts on tap Friday for the ongoing second season of the League of Fists boxing tournament. The back to back weekend boxing show coincides with the Dragon Boat Festival, also known as the Duanwu Festival in China. The holiday is celebrated on the fifth day of the fifth month on the Chinese lunar calendar.

Light flyweights Chao Ke and Zhang Xuanming opened the proceedings with Zhang winning a hard fought unanimous verdict.
Judges Edward Ligas and Tao Zhendong had it 40-36, Sungworn Klungboonkrung 39-37.

In a bruising super bantamweight contest, Yilihamu Mansuer beat Yang Zhengpeng also by unanimous nod. Judges Mekin Sumon, Yin Haiyang and Le Yiwen all had it 40-36.

Light heavyweight Wuzhati Nuerlang stopped Yang Guang in the second round, pinning Yang in his own corner and unleashed a series of unanswered punches prompting Referee Sawaeng Thaweekoon to stop the fight at the 2:21 mark.

Chen Zehong knocked out Alixiaer in the first round of their light flyweight fight with a liver punch in just 31 seconds.

In another superbantamweight tussle, Mu Xiaolu beat Ayati Sailike by unanimous decision. Scores of 39-37 from Edward Ligas, Le Yiwen and Zhu Yuwen.

Chao Lemen prevailed by technical decision over Zeng Yujie in their light flyweight bout. An accidental headbutt in the third inflicted a deep cut on the forehead of Zeng prompting the stoppage. Chao was ahead 30-27 on the scorecards of Mekin Sumon, Feng Yaocheng and Han Hongxiang.

In the last bout of the night, light heavyweight Maimaitijiang Nuermaimaiti investment in body punches in the opening round paid off as Xuerhereti Nurela chose not to answer the bell for the third round.

The first of a back to back weekend fight card was held at Yun Space, Elite Valley in Shanghai and officiated by the Professional Boxing Commission of China (PBCC). The League of Fists boxing tournament is promoted by Seca and Top Rank.
