The Pungluang Sor Singyu-Marlon Tapales WBO world bantamweight title fight has been postponed to July 22 from its original date of June 17 with a yet to be determined venue in Thailand, Tapales's manager Rex 'Wakee' Salud has informed Philboxing.
?They [Sor Singyu's promoter OneSongchai] have some trouble getting the sponsors so they moved the date,? Salud said. ?It's fine with us and Marlon is doing great in training,? Salud added.
Sor Singyu (52-3-0, 35KO) of Bangkok, Thailand, first won the WBO bantamweight title in 2012 by defeating AJ Banal of the Philippines but he lost it in his first defense against Paulus Ambunda of Namibia. Sor Singyu recaptured the title by knocking out Ryo Akaho of Japan on Aug. 7, 2015 and successfully defended it against Filipino Jetro Pabustan on Feb. 12 this year Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand.
Tapales (28-2-0, 11KO) became the mandatory challenger to Sor Singyu's belt after he stopped Shohei Omori of Japan in the second round during their eliminator fight at the Shimazu Arena in Kyoto on Dec. 16, 2015.
