THE FIGHT DXB: WEIGHTS FROM DUBAI

DUBAI, UAE ? Filipino expat Larry Abarra will make a third appearance here in Dubai when he battles Chansaknoi Sakrungruang (Natthapong Singsanan) of Thailand this Friday

Abarra made two appearances in Pinoy Pride fight cards in Dubai in 2014 and 2015. The 29 year old was a former amateur standout in the Philippines and spent the early part of his career in Metro Manila. He told this writer after the weigh-in that he hopes to be more active as a professional fighter and not just fight once a year. That will depend on how the sports will gain popularity in this country that has shown interest in hosting big title fights.

Chansaknoi once fought for the OPBF minimumweight title in Japan but lost to Toshikazu Waga in 2007.

Abarra (119.75 lbs) and Chansaknoi (121.25 lbs) a.k.a. Natthapong Singsanan are set for six rounds. The official weigh-in was held inside the Donatello Hotel. This card labeled as THE FIGHT DXB is promoted by Jose Mohen and officiated by the Professional Boxing Commission (PBC), International.

The undercards will feature Africans, Thais and one Irish boxer. Deo Kizito of Uganda will be pitted against Thai veteran Kosol Sor Vorapin (Photong Boonsong )also for six rounds. Kizito weighed in 139lbs while Kosol stepped on the scales at 132.25 lbs. They will fight for six rounds.

Lasisi Aliu (Uganda) ? 53.2 kgs vs Payu Sor Kounlavung (Solieng Souvannaphakdy ? 53.2kgs) of Thailand ? 6 rounds

Nicholas Mwangi (Kenya)- 65kgs vs Patrick Kalisa (Uganda) ? 65kgs ? 4 rounds

Mohammed Abou Bakr (Egypt) ? 73kgs vs Daniel Emeka (Nigeria) ? 73kgs ? 4 rounds

Rohen Date (Ireland) ? 70kgs vs Gerald Dah (Ghana) ? 69.5 kgs ? 4 rounds

The fights will be held June 3 at the Ahdaaf Sports Club.
