BACOLOD CITY ? The Philippines' longest reigning world champion Donnie 'Ahas' Nietes delivered scintillating performance by dominating and stopping former two-time world champion Raul 'Rayito' Garcia of Mexico in the 6th round to retain his WBO junior flyweight belt in front of Nietes' hometown crowd at the University of La Salle Arena here Saturday night on 'Pinoy Pride 36 ? A Legend in the Making'.
After a feeling out two rounds, Nietes got his distance in the 3rd round over the leftY Garcia who could not catch the slippery and snakelike Nietes. A left cross felled Rayito early in the third and a right to the body sent Rayito again to the canvas moments later. Nietes scored a couple of hard rights to the head of Garcia as the 4th round starts and followed it up with a wicked left. Nietes continued to potshot Garcia with hard blows like a target practice. It was clear that it would only take another wicked punch to take Garcia out. As the 6th round bell rung, Garcia refused to come out as Nietes was declared winner by TKO.
