Undefeated lightweight prospect Harmonito dela Torre of the Sanman Gym of Gen. Santos City is now in New York for his U.S. debut at the Seneca Niagara Resort and Casino in Niagara Falls, New York.
Dela Torre (17W-0L,12KO?s) arrived May 21 with promoter and manager Jim Claude Manangquil. This is also the third overseas outing for Dela Torre, who had two fights in Macau, in 2013 and 2014, knocking out Indonesians Jason Butar Butar and Yakobus Heluka.
Manangquil updated philboxing by e-mail that Dela Torre is in fighting shape at 135lbs. His opponent will be Guillermo Sanchez (15W-18L-1D,6KO?s), from Puerto Rico, but now residing in New York.
Dela Torre spent time in Florida last December for a brief training stint but returned to the Philippines before finally booking this fight. He holds a world title with the World Boxing Federation (WBF) but both Manangquil and Dela Torre have set their sights on higher goals.
