REX TSO STOPS YOUNG IN HONG KONG (COMPLETE RESULTS)

HONG KONG S.A.R, CHINA - Rex Tso did not disappoint the thousands of cheering hometown fans inside the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Center when he turned back Young Gil Bae of South Korea, knocking him down twice in the third before finishing the job in the fourth round.
The southpaw Tso pressured Young from the opening bell, landing hard combinations to the body and head. The Korean was game but was decked by a booming left straight in the third.
Young got up but was sent down again by another volley. He survived Tso?s onslaught but in the fourth round, Young was pinned on the ropes, ready to go down after receiving another barrage of punches prompting Referee Danrex Tapdasan to call a halt to the bout at 2:57 mark.
Tso proudly wore the WBO Asia-Pacific and WBC Asian Boxing Council superflyweight belts as the fans yelled and mobbed him when he got out of the ring.
The 28 year old Tso, known as the Wonder Kid of Hong Kong, is now 19-0,12KO?s. Prior to this fight he was ranked number 12 by the WBO and number 18 by the WBC.
Young drops to 25-6-1,21KO?s.
WBO VP for Asia Pacific Leon Panoncillo was supervising for the WBO while Damrong Simakajornboon represented the WBC ABCO.
This fight served as the main event for CLASH OF CHAMPIONS promoted by TOP RANK AND DEF Promotions, Top Rank CEO Bob Arum was at ringside.
SOLMIANO STUNS ODA
Jay ?Rapido? Solmiano of the Philippines made a stunning comeback after being away from boxing for more than two years and beat Japanese Takahiro Oda a.k.a. Jumbo Oda Nobunaga Shoten Petagine by TKO in the fourth round.
Solmiano (18-3-1,14KO?s), a former Philippine lightweight and WBO Asia-Pacific champion, is now based in Hong Kong. He told this writer that he dabbled in kickboxing one year ago before deciding to return as a boxer.
The southpaw Solmiano was a huge height disadvantage but easily closed the distance and knocked down the Japanese twice in round one. In the second, Solmiano continued his assault and trapped Oda on the ropes. Solmiano unleashed another fusillade prompting Referee Danrex Tapdasan to signal the end at the 2:37 mark. Oda drops to 9-4,7KO?s.
MURATA REMAINS UNBEATEN
London Olympics gold medalist Ryota Murata of Japan scored his third stoppage win in his last four bouts by beating Felipe Pedroso of Brazil by TKO in the fourth round.
Pedroso was at the receiving end of Murata?s two fisted attack right from the opening bell. Murata landed heavy punches at will as the fight progressed. In the fourth round, Pedroso was pinned on the ropes as Murata released another series of hard shots prompting Referee Surat Soikrachang to stop the fight.
Pedroso was still wobbly seconds after the fight ended. Time 2:50. Murata is now 10-0,7KO?s) while Pedroso suffers his second career loss at 13-2,11KO?s.
For the other undercard matches, two boxers representing Macao had impressive wins:
Kuok Kun Ng beat Werachit Kitee of Thailand by TKO in the fourth round. Ng sent his opponent down twice and Referee Amnart Saichalard called a halt at the 2:00 mark.
Li Quan Lin overcame a tentative start to beat Thai Campee Phayom by unanimous decision after six rounds. It was close and competitive but Li was stronger in the homestretch.
Scores ? Mark Leong ? 59-55, Joyce Kwok ? 60-54, Melissa Wong ? 58-56.
James Murashige of Japan stopped Junar Adante of the Philippines. Referee Surat Soikrachang stopped in 1:54 of the fifth after Adante continued to receive head punches while being trapped on the ropes.
In the opening bout of the evening, Raymond Poon of Hong Kong beat Hin Leong of Macau by unanimous decision after four rounds.
Scores ? Salven Lagumbay ? 39-37, Edward Ligas and Joyce Kuok ? 40-36.
