CEBU CITY ? Hungarian super bantamweight contender Zsolt Bedak, who arrived in this boxing crazy city Saturday afternoon from Hungary via Dubai, said that his fight against five-division world champion Nonito Donaire Jr next Saturday at the Cebu City Sports Center for Donaire's WBO world super bantamweight title, is the most important fight of his career.

?I've prepared hard for this fight, 10 weeks, and I will not waste this opportunity to become a world champion. This is the most important fight of my career,? Bedak, rated No. 4 by the WBO, said through his interpreter Andrew Kimly as he entertained questions from local scribes after taking their dinner at the Parklane Hotel along Archbishop Reyes Ave.

Bedak who is sporting a 25-1-0 win-loss-draw record with 8 stoppages, said he respects Donaire as a great fighter, ?but inside the ring, it will only be the two of us, and I believe my style will give him difficulties,? Bedak said.

Bedak, who is accompanied by his brother Norbert, said he sees Cebu as a beautiful city ?and the people are very nice and friendly? and added he is not worried about the hot weather because Hungary also gets very hot during summer and besides he said he had traveled and fought in tropical countries like Cuba, Puerto Rico and Thailand.

Bedak, who fought in the Athens Olympics in 2004 and beat Abner Mares in the first round, fought Filipino veteran Ramie Laput in 2009 for the WBO Inter-Continental title in Austria where he knocked out Laput in the 7th round. The win led him to fight for the world title against Wilfredo Vazquez Jr on May 29, 2010 in Puerto Rico but Vazquez knocked him out in the 10th round, the only loss of his career so far. Donaire, meanwhile, won over Vazquez by split decision when they met on Feb. 4, 2012 in Texas.

Bedak, who is more of a boxer than a slugger, is not worried that Donaire beat Vazquez who beat him because he said ?styles make fights? and he reiterated that he's got the style to beat Donaire. Donaire had difficulties against pure boxers as was seen with his fights against Omar Narvaez of Argentina in New York on Oct. 22, 2011 whom he failed to put away over 12 rounds and against Guillermo Ringondeaux where he lost by decision on Nov 9, 2013 in Texas.

Bedak promised that Filipino fans will witness a great fight come April 23.
