
LEAGUE OF FISTS: FEATHERWEIGHT SEMI-FINALS AND SEASON TWO MATCHES

SHANGHAI, CHINA - The season one semi-final bouts for the featherweight division got underway Friday with Xu Que giving a brilliant boxing display against Mai Jintian.
Xu employed a stick and move routine, scoring with his jab and right straight. Mai maintained his pressure but was staggered in the fourth round. Xu opened a cut on Mai?s right eyebrow in the final round for a bloody finish.
The scores for Xu ? Atty.Danrex Tapdasan ? 60-56,Sungworn Klongboonkrung ? 59-55, Salven Lagumbay ? 58-56.
Cheng Bingbing also boxed his way to a semi-final win against Wang Yingang. Cheng used his lateral movement for scoring angles but Wang managed to close the gap in the second round and scored with right hands. Cheng?s punches increased in frequency and accuracy as the rounds progressed. Wang tried to mount a rally in the sixth but Cheng diffused his effort.
The scores ? Meking Sumon and Surat Soikrachang ? 58-56, Salven Lagumbay ? 57-57.
For the Season Two matches:
In the opening light heavyweight bout, Wuzhati Nuerlang dropped Wu Chongzhen flat on his back in his own corner with a hard hook in the first round. Time ? 2:43.
Li Guang Xiong beat Ma Weijian by unanimous decision in their junior flyweight contest. The scorecards of Surat Soikrachang,Salven Lagumbay and Sungworn Klongboonkrong all read 40-36.
Junior featherweight Mai Qingxian battered He Penghui with a mix of body and head shots and Referee Han Hongxiang stopped the fight in the third round. Time -2:33.
Light heavyweight Mielifeier Dalielibieke sent Zhong Wen staggering across the ring and dropped with a searing hook prompting Referee Atty.Danrex Tapdasan to stop the contest at 2:50 of the second round.
Chen Weilin won by technical decision over Zeng Yujie in their junior flyweight match-up. Chen already was bleeding from the nose in the second but was aggravated by a headbutt that caused more blood to pour out of Chen?s nose.
The fight was stopped in the third with Chen ahead on the scores of Haung Shengmeng (30-27), Danrex Tapdasan (30-27) and Tao Zhendong (29-28).
Yang Zheng Peng prevailed by unanimous verdict against Aman Bahetiyaer in their junior featherweight bout. Zhu Yuwen, Han Hongxiang and Yan Wenghong all had it 40-36.
In another light heavyweight scrap, Li Hongfeng stopped Rousidanmu Abulaiti in the second round after Abulaiti was bleeding excessively from the nose. Time 1:12.
The fights were held Friday at Yun Space, Elite Valley in Shanghai and officiated by the Professional Boxing Commission of China (PBCC). The League of Fists boxing tournament is promoted by Seca and Top Rank. It was designed to be an ongoing grassroots search for boxing talent in mainland China. The winner in the tournament finals will be crowned Greater China champions in their respective divisions by the WBO.
