
SANTANA BEATS PAREDES AT PORT HUENEME

PORT HUENEME, CA -- Saturday night at the Oceanview Pavilion in this city made popular by the US Navy SeaBees, Francisco Santana of Santa Barbara, CA (24-4-1, 12KO) displayed his rapid fire and non stop aggression to beat the slow footed Ed Paredes of Pembrook Pines Florida (36-6-1, 24KO). Santana was so relentless that Paredes never got a chance to catch up with him although he landed a few nice shots, albeit too far in between. The scores were all 100-90 (top photo).
In supporting main event, Luis Ramos of Santa Ana, CA (26-2-0, 10KO) won via an exciting phone booth type humdinger over the very willing and tough opponent in Cristobal Cruz of Tijuana, MX. (40-2-4,4KO. Ramos dropped the wily veteran early in round 6 but the Tijuana native used all his experiences in the ring to regain his composure and continue on to fight in the slugfest. In the following round Cruz landed a crisp right that dropped Ramos drawing cheers from the sell out crowd. The judges scored the fight as 78-72 in each of the three cards in favor of Ramos.

Egor Mekhontsev, the London gold medal winning Olympian from Russia (12-0-0, 8KO) knocked down Victor Barragan of Oxnard, CA (12-10-1, 3KO) twice in round 2 and then again in Round 5 leading the referee to stop the fight at 2:52.
Xavier Martinez of Sacramento (5-0-0, 3KO) kept his record clean via a 4th round knocked out over Gabriel Gutierrez of El Paso, TX (,3-2-0, 2KO). Martinez managed to knock down Gutierrez twice, once in round 3 and again in round 4 leading to the stoppage of the fight.

Alexander Besputin of Krasnyoarsk, Russian (3-0-0, 3KO) beat Christon Edwards of Houston, TX ( 6-1-0, 3KO).
Abraham Lopez of Rowland Heights, CA (2-1-1) and Eddie Diaz 1-4-1) of Torrance, CA fought to a four round majority draw.
Oscar Mendoza of Sta Maria, CA made a successful pro debut by beating Gabriel Braxton of Red Oak, GA (2-`14-0)
