GEN. SANTOS CITY ? Jake Bornea turned back the challenge of the feisty Renerio Arizala and retained the WBO Asia-Pacific Youth flyweight title by unanimous decision in the final bout of a WBO regional triple-header held Saturday at the Oval Plaza Gym of Gen. Santos City.

Bornea gave his opponent different looks by switching stances from southpaw to orthodox. He hurt Arizala with a body shot in the second round and proceeded to pummel him in the remaining minute of the round.

Arizala weathered the storm and tried to match Bornea?s body attack. Bornea turned up the heat at the halfway point but Arizala refused to yield.

They traded well placed punches but Bornea finished strong, gathering strength from the partisan fans who cheered him on.

The scores ? Salven Lagumbay and Romar Embodo ? 97-93, Romy Fordaliza ? 96-94.

The WBO bouts were supervised by WBO VP for Asia-Pacific Leon Panoncillo. The fight card also had Vic Saludar retaining his WBO Asia Pacific minimumwieght title and Japan?s Hiroshige Osawa winning the vacant WBO Asia-Pacific featherweight title (see separate stories).

Bornea, who is also a WBF International flyweight titlist, goes up to 11-1,5KO?s, Arizala drops to 13-4-1,5KO?s.
?KAMBAL KAMAO? was co-promoted by Amoy Boxing Promotions in cooperation with Ran-ran Boxing Stable, G-Pro Boxing Team and Championship Boxing Development of Kenneth Rontal.
