CEBU CITY ? The headliners of 'Pinoy Pride 35: Stars of the Future' at the Waterfront Hotel here Saturday night, 'Prince' Albert Pagara and Mark 'Magnifico' Magsayo, each scored a knockdown over their respective opponents and run away with lopsided unanimous decision wins to remain undefeated but somewhat the jampacked crowd was not fully satisfied with the outcome for lack of fireworks.

Pagara's opponent Yesner Talavera of Nicaragua ran all night and only engaged the power-punching Pagara a few instances in each round in a big letdown to what he promised earlier to display his bravery in front of the Filipino fans. Even his well known promoter Rosendo Alvarez was caught shaking his head and laughing to the antics of his ward who was caught taunting Pagara and then run.

The stalking Pagara finally caught Talavera with a straight to the solar plexus in the 7th round that sent the Nicaraguan to the canvas in one of the very few highlights of the dull fight.

Judges Salven Lagumbay and Greg Ortega had it 120-107 for Pagara while Edward Ligas had 119-108, also for Pagara.

Pagara, who annexed the WBO Intercontinental Jr Featherweight title, improved his undefeated record to 25 wins with 18 stoppages while Talavera went down to 15-4-1 with 4 knockouts.

WBO Vice President Leon Panoncillo Jr puts on the WBO youth featherweight belt on Magsayo.

Mark Magsayo also scored a knockdown in the 7th round as a result of multiple body shots over Eduardo Montoya of Mexico but failed to put away the slippery Mexican who did not run per se but was very adept to keep his distance from Magsayo and who fought more to survive than to engage.

Judges' scores: Edgar Olalo, 100-89; Samson Libres, 97-92 and Tony Pesons, 99-90 all for Magsayo.

Magsayo captured the WBO youth featherweight title and improved his record to 13 wins with 10 knockouts while Montoya suffered his 5th defeat in 23 fights.
