Sismundo (L) attacks Felix Jr.

In the Top Rank promoted event at the Marriott Convention Center in Burbank, California Saturday night televised on Unimas TV, Jose Felix Jr (33-1-1 25KO) of Los Mochis, Mexico beat Ricky Sismundo (30-9-2, 13KO) of the Philippines via split decision with scores of 95-94, 94-95, and 96-93. It could have been a draw if not for the point deduction on Sismundo for a "late" punch at the end of round 6. The deduction should not have been done given the punch was a continuation of a punch that came as the same time as the bell.

OTHER RESULTS:

Rony Alvarado (9-7-0, 5KO) of Ciudad Juarez, Mexico dropped Eric Altamirano (7-0-0, 5KO) of Fresno, CA in round 1 but got dropped himself in round 4. Altamirano went on to win by unanimous decision with identical scores of 38-36 from the three judges to his favor.

In the first TV bout, Arnold Barbosa Jr (10-0-0, 4KO) of Los Angeles, CA stopped Robbie Cannon (15-12-0, 7KO) of Festus, Missouri in round 1 of their 6-round lightweight bout.

Egor Mekhontsev (11-0-0, 7KO) of Russia dropped Felipe Romero (15-11-4, 9KO) of La Paz, Mexico in rounds 1 and 5 and went on to win by a lopsided unanimous decision, 80-73 from all the three judges scorecards in their 8-round light heavyweight bout.

In his professional debut, Miguel Alcantara of Los Angeles, CA Ko'd Julio Rodriguez (0-2-0) of Ensenada, Mexico in the first. Time: 2:26.
