Undefeated lightweight prospect Harmonito Dela Torre (17W-0L,12 KO?s) arrived in Miami, Florida last December 26 and will undergo a month long training session. Boxing promoter and manager Jim Claude Manangquil informed philboxing that Dela Torre will be trained by Cuban Osmiri Fernandez who currently trains world champions like reigning WBA lightweight interim world champ Ismael Barosso, former WBA world champ Richard Abril and many more. Notable boxers who were Fernandez?s wing are Victor Ortiz, Tomoki Kameda, and Yuriorkis Gamboa.

The 21 year old Dela Torre has no scheduled fight yet but Manangquil feels that experience of training in the U.S. will make him mature as a boxer. ?He will learn more things from a world class trainer. He will also have good sparring there.? Manangquil stated in his message to this writer, ?He has a great team with Sanman Promotions, Fight card promotions and Greg Cohen promotions. Opportunity now is not a problem and we will announce his USA debut really soon.?

Dela Torre has a world title with the WBF but is setting his sights much higher. His last three fights ended via the short route against William George, Eusebio Baluarte and Richard Betos.
