SHANGHAI, CHINA - There is a well-worn joke in the Philippines that boxing is a sport that suits the Holiday season because ?it is better to give than to receive?.

The atmosphere inside the Mixing Room of the Mercedes-Benz Arena was festive with the boxing ring adorned by Christmas d?cor. But the action inside the ring however, turned fiery real quick.

The Christmas day fight card was opened by Tan Jiaocai winning all rounds against Xu Kaixin.

(Score of 40-36 by Yang Hong, Feng Yaocheng and Sawaeng Thaweekoon)

Yang Xinyu engaged An Da in a majority draw.

(Sungworn Klungboonkrung and Tao Zhendong had it 38-38, Zhao Yubin ? 40-36)

Xu Que dominated Tao Xiaohao with hard overhand rights and knocked down Tao in the third round. Tao was also bleeding from the nose in the fourth but managed to hang on and finish the fight.

(Scores ? Surat Soikrachang ? 39-36, Lin Weiqing ? 40-35, Tao Zhendong ? 40-35)

Shang Zijie beat Zhou Doudou by majority decision.

(Scores ? Sawaeng Thaweekoon ? 40-36, Yang Hong ? 39-37, Feng Yaocheng ? 38-38)

In one of the more entertaining fights of the evening, Liu Pengfei knocked down Jiao Daijian in the second round with a hard right hand. But Jiao continued to charge and drew blood from Liu?s nose in the third.

The third round?s give and take action had the crowd roaring for more. The pace dropped in the fourth but they continued to trade well placed punches till the end of the bout.

All three judges Zhu Yuwen, Han Hongxiang and Feng Yaocheng had it for Liu.

Dong Chaoqun prevailed by unanimous decision over Geng Shugang.

(Scores ? Zhao Yubin ? 40-36, Tao Zhendong ? 39-37, Yang Hong ? 40-36)

Alimu Wushouer raised his record to 5-0,5KO?s after stopping Song Shuguang in 1:57 of the opening round. Song was tagged by a left from the southpaw Alimu and was receiving another volley when he got up prompting Referee Surat Soikrachang to stop the bout.

Mai Jintian battered Cai Xiang with body and head shots enroute to a shutout win.

(40-36 from Han Hongxiang, Zhu Yuwen and Mekin Sumon)

Yilixiati Ainiwaer need only 54 seconds to stop Jiang Jian. Yilixiati dropped Jiang on one knee and Referee Han Hongxiang saw Jiang was hurt prompting him to stop the fight.

In the most explosive match of the night, two unbeaten punchers, Wang Jiancheng and Abulmiti engaged in a show stopping shootout that was fun while it lasted.

Both entered the ring with all of their two tournament victories ending in the short route. The opening round saw both fighters taking turns landing heavy shots to the jaw. Both seemed to handle their opponent?s power very well but in the second, Abulmiti caught Wang with a left hook that sent him crashing to the canvas.

Wang got up but a series of rights sent him down again prompting Referee Sawaeng Thaweekoon to correctly signal a halt to the bout at the 2:23 mark.

The League of Fists is a grassroots and talent search for boxers in the Chinese mainland and is promoted by SECA and TOP RANK. The bouts held Friday ranged from the featherweight to supermiddleweight divisions and supervised by the Professional Boxing Commission (PBC) of China. There will be a second day of fights on December 26 still at the Mixing Room of the Mercedes Benz Arena in Shanghai.
