GLENDALE, CA -- Top Rank ands its associated sponsors, held a fight card Saturday night at the Civic Auditorium of this beautiful city just north of Los Angeles. HBO Latino carried it live.

Headlining the card was a light heavyweight title eliminator to determine the challenger for IBF World Champion, Sergey Kovalev of Russia. Fighting in the 12 round bout was undefeated Cuban fighter who now makes Miami, Florida his home - Sullivan Barrera (17-0-0, 12 KOS) and Karo Murat (27-3-1, 17KO) of Kitzingen, Germany (top photo).

The fight seemed uneventful for the first three rounds although Murat seemed to be winning the hearts of the crowd. They cheered louder for him.

All of a sudden, at the dying seconds of round 4, Barrera landed a haymaker that Murat did not see coming and it floored him. Following unified boxing rules in the State, the referee continued to count 8 even after the bell rung, thus Barrera was credited with a knockdown.

Sensing imminent victory as soon as the bell for round 5 sounded, Barrera raced across the ring and started throwing lots of ill-intentioned punches leading Murat to cover up and unable to punch back. Seeing the predicament that the German was in, the referee stepped in and stopped the fight saving Murat from further damage. Of course Murat complained on what appears to be an early stoppage, but to no avail. ?The referee was right in stopping the fight,? said Filipino judge Jony Davis after the fight was long over.

?Although it appears Murat was ahead in the fight due to the louder fans he had, he was really losing the fight,? he added. The fight result was inevitable, tonight Barrera was the better man,? he added.

Barrera and his team celebrates after stopping Murat.
