LEAGUE OF FISTS? ACTION-PACKED WEDNESDAY

SHANGHAI, CHINA- The second of a back to back weekday boxing show gave fight fans inside the Mixing Room a lot of reasons to cheer.

Lightweights Zhang Xueli and Zhou Haiyang got the action going with Zhang scoring a knockdown in the opening round. Heavy exchanges ensued and a hematoma developed on the left eyelid of Zhou at the end of the third covering his vision prompting the stoppage before the start of the fourth and final round.

Zhang?s TKO win gave him his first victory in the league tournament.

Xu Jinghao knocked down Zhu Xiaozheng in the first round and cruised to a unanimous decision win in their welterweight bout.

(Judges scores: Sungworn Klungboonkrung ? 39-36, Tao Zhendong ? 40-35, Ji Naibin ? 40-35)

Mai Jintian punched his way to a shutout win over Tao Xiaohao in their featherweight contest. This is Mai?s third win in the league.

(40-36 for Mekin Sumon, Yang Hong and Feng Yaocheng)

Alimu Wushouer used a hard liver shot to freeze Yuan Yinshuai in his tracks, making Referee Mekin Sumon stop the fight at 1:48 of the first round.

Lightweight Alimu is now 4-0, 4 KO?s.

Fu Songlin won a hard fought unanimous decision verdict over Jiang Jian in their supermiddleweight bout. Referee Surat Soikrachang deducted a point from Jiang for repeatedly spitting out his mouthpiece.

(Scores ? Zhu Yuwen and Feng Yaocheng ? 40-35, Mekin Sumon 38-37)

Wang Jiancheng?s knockout streak was stopped by Xia Zhilin, who held him to a split draw in their welterweight contest. Wang?s nose was bloodied in the second round but he continued to press the action against the swinging Xia.

(Scores ? Ji Naibin ? 39-37 for Xia, Sungworn Klungboonkrong ? 39-37 for Wang and Tao Zhendong ? 38-38)

Featherweights Xu Que and Liu Pengfei engaged on even terms in the first three rounds. Xu knocked down Liu in the fourth and was nearing a stoppage win but Liu managed to hang on for the final bell.

Zulpikaer Maimaitiali used a hard body blow to stop Geng Shuguang in 55 seconds of the opening round. Supermiddleweight Zulpikaer is now 4-0-1,2KO?s.

In another featherweight match, Zheng Wenhao knocked down Jiao Daijian in the second round; Jiao got up on unsteady legs prompting Referee Han Hongxiang to stop the fight at 24 seconds of the round.

The evening was capped by the bloody bout between welterweights Jin Yangcheng and Kang Haibo.

Kang suffered a cut on the temporal region of the left scalp due to a head clash in the second round but he did enough to win on all three judges? cards.

The bouts were supervised by the Professional Boxing Commission (PBC) of China.

The League of Fists is promoted by SECA and TOP RANK. It features more than eighty Chinese fighters in a tournament of four round fights. The eventual winner in every division of this grassroots boxing program and talent search will be crowned with a WBO Greater China title belt.

The fights are regularly held at the Mixing Room of the Mercedes Benz Arena in Shanghai.
