
ACTION PACKED NIGHT OF BOXING AT THE CPDRC

CEBU CITY ? The inmates and visitors inside the Cebu Provincial Detention and Rehabilitation Center (CPDRC) were treated to a five professional bouts Sunday night. The boxing show also had amateur contests featuring detainees who seriously trained for their chance to show their skills inside the ring.
In the ten round main event, Magos R. Singwangcha (Romnick Magos) prevailed over Ryan Tampus by technical decision in a blood tinged battle.
They fought at close quarters right from the start but a clash of heads in the third inflicted cuts on both boxers. Magos had a cut on his left eyebrow while Tampus was bleeding from the middle of his scalp near the forehead.
Tampus continued to be in the fight but Magos? midsection assault took their toll. The cornermen of both boxers managed to stop the bleeding but Tampus faded in the sixth. Magos kept his pressure;Tampus still managed to engage but looked spent at the end of the seventh. Tampus' cut also resumed bleeding prompting the stoppage. Magos was ahead on the scores of Judges' Teddy Alivio (77-75) and Edgar Olalo (77-75) while Edward Ligas had it 76 all.
Magos, as well as the other winners, received additional cash prizes from Thai Promoter Naris Singwangcha.
Joaquino E Singwangcha (Elias Joaquino) punched a shutout against Jonathan Ricablanca after eight rounds. Edward Ligas, Tony Pesons and Edgar Olalo all had it 80-72.
Stella J Singwangcha (Jeffrey Stella) stopped Jamesbert Abanes in 1:10 of the opening round. A straight right sent Abanes to the canvas and when he got up, Stella pinned and battered him in the neutral corner prompting Referee Tony Pesons to stop the contest.
Rimon Rama scored a knockdown in the second round and cruised to a unanimous victory over Erbert Donato. The scorecards read - Tony Pesons 40-35, Edward Ligas 39-36 and Edgar Olalo 40-35. The opening bout saw Mark Rotilles beat Jenebal Peregrino by four round unanimous decision. Scores of E.Ligas,T.Alivio and E.Olalo were all 49-47.
The featured amateur bout saw Jorge Salugaol of the CPDRC Supermax boxing team beat Jemar Habierto of the Phil-Aust gym by unanimous decision after four bruising rounds.
There were more amateur bouts set after the professional contests but a heavy downpour interrupted the action which was held outdoors in the prison yard where the world famous dancing inmates perform.
This event in Baranggay Kalunasan was made possible by the efforts of Mr. Marco Toral and sponsors Kumander Jun Noel, BC 45, Lito Granada, Arman Tipontipon,Victor Diolan and Robert Emeterio, together with Wakee Salud and Naris Singwangcha Sports Promotions. The pro bouts were supervised and sanctioned by GAB-Cebu.
