In the 4th fight on the undercard of the Lucas Matthysse vs Victor Postol for the vacant WBC world super lightweight title bout at the StubHub Center in Carson, CA Saturday night, Filipino contender Mercito Gesta (29-1-2) gets off the canvas and wins by questionable unanimous decision over Miguel Angel Mendoza (21-7-2, 21KO). Scores: 97-92, 97-92 and 98-93.
3rd fight: Marcelino Lopez of Buenos Aires, Argentina (32-1-1, 17KO) drops David Rodela of Oxnard, CA (17-12-4, 7KO) in round 2 and again in round 3. Rodela did not beat count in the second knockdown. Time 1:12.
2nd fight: D'Mitrius Ballard of Washington DC (10-0-0 7KO) wins by unanimous decision over Juan Carlos Rojas of Hayward CA (8-13-1, 7KO). Scores 59-54, 58-55 and 58-55.
Curtain raiser: Alejandro Ochoa of Bell Gardens CA (7-10-2, 1KO) drops Kevin Rivers of Palmer Park, MD in round 2 and scores an upset by majority decision. Scores 59-53, 59-53, 56-56.
