ALA PROMOTIONS AT STUBHUB COULD BE VERY EXCITING

Today at lunch break, I decided to check my e-mail to see if anything interesting was sent to me that I can talk about and share with the multitude of readers of this great website and boxing portal, philboxing.com.?

Frankly, I was hoping that I can find one because I am sick and tired of the nonsense I get to see in different websites, like the ones glorifying the Mayweather-Berto event which they call a ?fight? and the charade that is the Mosley-Mayorga match up this coming Saturday at the Forum in Inglewood.

True enough one readily caught my eye.

An old ?internet acquaintance? of mine , Mr. Bernardo Quirino who I never heard from in many years sent me one.

His e-mail to me was so simple and yet so poignant. It was really a very touching message.

All he really wanted to know was where to get tickets for the first ever ALA Promotions at the Stub Hub on October 17th! In part his e-mail read as follows:

?I have a question for you I read your article a few weeks ago about the ALA promotional boxing event in Stubhub and I wanted to know if they have been selling any tickets? I looked at ticketmaster.com and tried other sites online but no luck. Do you know any sites or maybe a phone that I can call to make ticket reservations? I don't want to get caught late since I'm coming all the way from the East Coast. Just wanted to show my supports with my Kababayans. Thank you!?

His message really floored me!

Mr. Quirino is coming in ?all the way from the East Coast? just so he can show support for his kababayans!

What a gesture from a true Filipino!

I am not much of a betting man, but I can wager that this gentleman is one of a kind. But I am also hoping that he won?t be the last one.

He is a far cry from the multitude of Filipino quasi-boxing fans that would only go to a fight involving Filipinos if tickets are free! Frankly, Mr. Quirino restored my faith on Filipino boxing fans.

I would love to see many more Filipinos of Mr. Quirino?s kind put their money where their mouths are and make efforts to come to the StubHub Center in Carson on October 17th and support the Filipino boxers from the ALA Boxing Gym headed by Donnie Nietes, the Pagara brothers and Mark Magsayo stand toe-to-toe with their Mexican rivals.

I assure them that whatever they will lay out in terms of time and money will be very well worth it.

I am so sure about this because the folks from ALA Boxing headed by the father-son tandem of Tony and Michael Aldeguer are first class folks and equally first class boxing people. They know how to put boxing promotions together as evidenced by the many, many, ?Pinoy Pride? events they successfully held over the years.

The fact that they have with them the largest television outfit in the Philippines, the ABS/CBN Group as partners only validates their credibility.

Mr. Quirino?s e-mail message, miniscule in magnitude as it is, tells me that there is a great potential for better and bigger things to come that will help propel the first ever ALA Boxing Promotions in the USA into a trend setting event that will be a prelude to many more.

Mr. Quirino is just one of the fans that will make such things happen. But I am sure, somewhere out there, many more will follow suit particularly after the marketing folks from ALA Boxing Promotions and ABS/CBN kicks up their activities and start releasing tickets for sale.

It does not take a lot to fill out the StubHub. It only seats 8000. Counting the Latinos that will surely come to support their fans, I am sure the Pinoys can prove their worth by matching the Latinos person per person.

And with that, it will be a great evening at the StubHub!

See you there folks!
