CEBU ? The Pagara brothers will be pitted against Mexican opponents on August 7 at the Dubai World Trade Center in UAE. ?Prince? Albert Pagara will defend his IBF Intercontinental junior featherweight title against Jesus ?Chito? Rios while his elder brother, Jason ?El Ni?o? Pagara will face Ramiro Alcaraz in a ten round non-title contest.
Albert (23-0,16KO?s) is undefeated and currently ranked number five by the International Boxing Federation in the 122lb division. The IBF world champion is Carl Frampton of Northern Ireland. Jason (35-2, 22KO?s) is the WBO international junior welterweight titlist and is rated number two in the World Boxing Organization?s June 2015 rankings. The WBO world champion is Terence Crawford of the U.S.
?Duel in Dubai II? will be the second fight card staged by ALA Promotions in the Emirates. Promoter Michael Aldeguer talked about the incredible reception they got in Dubai last year which made the Cebu-based company decide to have a return engagement.
?We never saw a crowd as great as the fans in Dubai.? Aldeguer stated during the press conference held Monday at the Rajah Park Hotel. ?They were lining up three hours before the ticket booths were supposed to be open. Many had to be turned away. We sold out two thousand, We will be doubling the number of seats for this event.?
The ALA Promotions President and CEO also spoke the Pagara brothers training and fighting in the U.S. in an ALA promoted card.
Both brothers were unanimous in saying that they did not feel any pressure that they will be fighting together abroad for the first time. ?We will just continue to focus and train,?, they said.
Trainer Edmund Villamor stated that he has already studied films of Albert?s opponent but he will still look into Jason?s adversary.
Albert predicted a knockout ending for his fight.
Rios (31W-7L-1D,25KO?s) has lost to the likes of Michael Fare?as and Fernando Montiel. Rios won his last fight by first round TKO against Aram Valle.
Alcaraz (15-4-1,9KO?s) lost in his attempt to win the WBC Silver title last year to Roberto Ortiz. He won his last fight by seventh round TKO against Jonas Olivas.
Also penned to make an appearance in Dubai is Jimrex ?Executioner? Jaca, who will trade punches with Mexican Pablo Lugo Montiel.
