EVEN IN DEFEAT ADRIEN BRONER REMAINS SMUG

MGM Grand Las Vegas:- Floyd Mayweather Jr pronounced Adrien Broner as his ?possible successor?. Well, the self proclaimed TBE is both right and wrong!

First, where Floyd was right.

Adrien Broner indeed can succeed Floyd Mayweather Jr. But only in being haughty and hated by many fans who abhor anything puffed-up and self aggrandizing. Broner indeed fits that Mayweather mold.

Even in a wide defeat at the hands of fellow Ohio native, Shawn Porter has not diminished Broner?s ugly demeanor. At the post fight interview Broner stated ?I didn?t get the decision. But at the end of the day everyone here will take my autograph and my picture.? Sure Adrien, sure!

Second, Floyd?s wrong call.

Adrien Broner will never be like him much less his ?successor?. Sure he has copied and mastered the art of running from his opponent instead of engaging like real fighters do. He also has learned a poor imitation of the Mayweather shoulder roll. But what he really perfected was the use of his forearms and how to hold just like Mayweather when they get in trouble.

Lucky referee Tony Weeks has the balls to penalize him for excessive holding and other dirty techniques. I only wished Kenny Bayless did the same last May 2nd. But I digress.

After the fight Broner further said - ?Nothing surprised me. At the end of the day, great champions can take a good loss just like they take a good win?.

Since when did Broner become a ?great champion?? Is this another one of those many self-proclamations like Mayweather? I may be wrong but only those that fit the molds of Rocky Marciano and Joe Louis or even Flash Elorde can call themselves ?great champion?.

Broner uses the dirty tricks in the book by using his forearm to lean on Porter (top photo) and excessive clinching (above).

Adrien Broner is far from that.

The 12 round fight was not even close although there was a surprising 114-112 score from a possible blind mice. The other scores were the true measure of the fight - a 115-111 and a 118-108.

Broner?s only shining moment was in the first minute of round 12. Knowing that he is well behind in points, Broner stepped up the tempo and caught Porter with a left and dropped him for an 8-count, But that?s all he can show for the night, that is if one does not count the numerous time he would run and hide and also the use of his forearms and the holding when things get bad for him

CompuBox shows Porter only landed 25% of his punches compared to Broner who they said landed 28%. Shows you how reliable is CompuBox.

Broner?s win will surely earn him a bigger fight the next time around. Surely, it will be more than the mere million bucks he made tonight compared to the 1.5 M that Broner got.

But he was the winner. At the end of the day, that?s all that counts.
