WBO mandatory superbantam challenger Rey 'Boom Boom' Bautista is set to return to the ALA Gym next week and start training for his August challenge of WBO champion Daniel Ponce De Leon.

Bautista versus De Leon will headline the 'World Cup' of boxing in August at a soon-to-be-announced venue.

The undefeated Bautista had been allowed to take a two-week vacation in his hometown in Tagbilaran City by his chief handler Antonio L. Aldeguer following the hard fight he had against Argentinian Sergio Manuel Medina last May 5 underneath the Oscar De la Hoya-Floyd Mayweather super-bout.

Bautista figured in a stretched out battle with Medina over twelve fast-paced rounds, and picked himself up from a seventh-round knockdown to emerge a unanimous decision winner by scoring two knockdowns against the tough Medina.

Meanwhile, Bautista has been included by two prestigious ranking bodies in their latest pound-for-pound ratings, making him the only Filipino superbantam fighter to grace the list.

Bautista is currently ranked no. 6 by the Ring Magazine, while Fightnews.com has the pride of Bohol at no. 9. Mexican Rafael Marquez continues to top the list, owing to his impressive stoppage win over Israel Vazquez to win the WBC 122-lb crown.
